Karen and I are excited to return from a quick mission trip to Africa. The Grand Oaks-sponsored medical clinic in Arusha, Tanzania helped us host a huge medical camp in the Kibera slum of Nairobi, Kenya. We had a team of 23 medical personnel, helpers from Detroit, MI, along with Dr. Byemba and some of his staff from our medical clinic. We were blessed to be able to help hundreds of people last week by providing much needed medical care and spiritual enlightenment. Thank you for sponsoring the clinic and for allowing Karen and myself to make this journey.

The remainder of October will be critical here at Grand Oaks. Pray for our ladies as they leave for a retreat this coming Friday. The Fall Festival is coming up on Saturday, October 27th. We need everyone to volunteer in helping our Fall Festival outreach event.

Karen and I love our church family and we are so happy to be back!

A word from the pastor.png

We have finally arrived at the start of our 40 Days in the Word campaign. We have been preparing and planning for many months and we are excited about the potential for great impact in our church, families, and personal lives.

In order for you to receive the full benefit of this series, it is important that you participate in as many activities as possible. Beginning with the Sunday messages and continuing through our life groups, workbooks, and biblical memorization we are asking each of our church family members to join son this journey to “Love the word, learn the word, and live the word”!

We will continue in this effort until the end of October and I encourage you to be as faithful as possible in every area. It is possible today to join a life group and to pick up a workbook and we will have the memory verse for the week available every Sunday for you to take.

Today we are going to present some of the special events that will mark the coming season at Grand Oaks.  We are looking forward to a wonderful time of numerical and spiritual growth for our church family.  We are asking all of our members to be faithful and involved during this time of important ministry.  WE will need your help to make these ministries effective.

There are 2 very special items we want to focus on.  First is our "40 Days in the Word" campaign which kicks off of 9/16/18 and will fully begin on 9/23/18.  Please commit to be a part of this experience including the workbooks and life groups.

The second major activity that we will need much help with is our Fall Festival on 10/27/18.  This will be a major outreach event and will need great participation from our congregation.  Please set that date aside and plan on being a part of our team on that critical day.

Student Life Camp - Summer 2018

SMOKY MOUNTAINS. ADVENTURE. GO-KARTS. FUDGE.

Student Life in the Smokies is a Christ-centered conference-style camp for 7th-12th graders. It includes engaging worship from experienced worship leaders, learning through sound Biblical teaching and Bible study, community in Life Groups, and free time to explore the Smoky Mountains and greater Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge area. It's a week of focused learning, heartfelt praise, dramas, community building, and most importantly, God's Word on center stage.

This picturesque location offers a blend of the great outdoors in the Smoky Mountains National Park, Tennesse's largest waterpark at Wilderness at the Smokies and fun entertainment that your students and adults will enjoy. It's camp at a waterpark resort, but Sevierville is a setting that proudly boasts of a "Southern" atmosphere fueled by local hospitality. That combination makes for an environment suited perfectly to students for worshipping God and studying His Word.

Important Info:

  • When? July 21-July 27
  • Where? Wilderness at the Smokies
  • $375/camper (cash, check, or credit cards accepted)
